Membership
So you are considering becoming a member? You should – it is really easy.
If you are already an experienced kayaker, just make contact with us and we will let you know when to turn up on a Club Night. You can contact us through our Facebook page or get in touch with one of our committe members directly and we will provide you a link to our online registration form. You can find out about our annual fees on the membership rates page.
If you do not have the L2 Skills award, we can help you get that done.
Beginners Courses
If you are new to kayaking, you need to attend a Beginners Course either with SKC or an appropriately qualified instructor. More information regarding our beginner courses is on our Beginner Course page. Anyone interested can call Enda on (086) 2380059 or email info *AT* sligokayakclub.com.
Membership Form
For anyone joining as a member or beginner you will need to complete a Membership Form (contact us for link) and submit payment prior to your first session.
We would also recommend reading our club policy documents which contain important information about our club.
So why not come and join a very social Club. No experience is required, just an ability to swim and to smile as you get wet! We generally have more adult members that Junior, but welcome all ages 12 years and older and encourage families to get involved. A wetsuit is recommended, but shorts and a t-shirt are fine, all other gear is provided. The course fee covers all the lessons, Canoeing Ireland Level 2 assessment, gear rental for the duration of the course and club membership for one year.
After that you can come out on our club paddle sessions and it is just €5 a session for gear hire. It’s a fun and cheap sport! We paddle all through the winter too in the lakes and rivers and we learn new kayaking skills in the Regional swimming pool through until the Spring.
See our Facebook page for dates of the next course:
